Bean Pate
1 Can of RINSED Kidney Bean (Red or White)
I have also used pinto beans, lentils, black beans and mixed beans. Each will give you a slightly different flavour
1 TB of lime or lemon juice (again each one has a different flavour so experiment with each)
1 TB of tomato paste or tomato sauce
1 TB of cilantro
I have also used fresh basil, oregano or parsley. Each is slightly different.
Hot Sauce-to taste
Blend in a blender or food processor. Pour into airtight containers.
I use this as a base for sandwiches, as a spread on crackers, or as a dip for nacho chips.
It is high in fibre, magnesium and protein. An excellent way to introduce legumes into your life!!
